OK, I hope I don't gross anyone out with this post, but I'm dying for someone who knows something about German men (and their peeing habits) to help me out with this.
Tonight, I was chatting with Italo and he mentioned that a friend of his who is dating a German girl told him that German men pee sitting down. He said this because when this friend went to visit his girlfriend in Germany, she and her friends were disgusted that he peed standing up (not sure how they ALL found this out) and told him that all German men pee sitting down.
Anyone know anything about this??? I have no idea why I want more information, but I guess I'm just so used to crossing the tiny plaza by my apartment and seeing men stopping to take a standing leak in front of everyone in broad daylight without so much as batting an eye--It would be interesting to know that most men from an entire country actually take the time to sit down and get 'er done! I tried to google it, but as to be expected I got a bunch of porn sites instead of what I was looking for. I did find a guy's blog about posted signs in public restrooms in Germany that prohibited standing, but it was a kind of crazy blog so who knows if he's reliable or not.
OH, and I totally understand if no one wants to reply, haha..

weird! and seriously, even if they all peed sitting down, its not like the wouldn't know that like other people from other cultures don't.
I'll ask my German friend Patrick when he gets back from Pucon. Or maybe I'll ask his girlfriend...which would be less embarrassing?

I wonder how that should work that all German men are standing while peeing. But indeed there are many guys who do it and I guess there are more than in Chile, because we (the German women) tortured them to do so!
We are sick of cleaning up pee all around the bathroom because they cannot target the right spot...It would be disgusting in public bathrooms though - it's not very hygienic ist it - I'm not sitting down there either.
What do you think? Poor guys?

I had a Swiss friend in the UK who once told me he peed sitting down. I just could not believe he had said that but, although I was very curious, I REALLY couldn't bring myself to make further enquiries on the matter. Thanks to blogs, I'll surely soon find out!
Not sure about Germany, but I know in some European Universities they won't install "urinal's", only actual toilets because it is deemed offensive for men to pee standing up - somehow it is demeaning to women, like men are proving they can do things women can't. Don't know about anyone else, but I personally am not demeaned by the fact that a man can pee stnading up, and frankly I would rather not know which way he does it, just shut the door and do your business!
Way to go German women!!! If guys would learn to aim, that wouldn't be necessary. But they always piss all over the place (especially in public restrooms). Nasty.
Actually I'm for the Thai, hole-in-the-ground-system, because I can't stand sitting on public toilet seats. The ones in the ladies' rooms are often full of piss too.

I think that's really interesting about universities not having urinals since that solves the pee on the seats problem. Coming from the U.S., a guy who pees sitting down who's also from the U.S. seems a little strange, but way to go European women.
If there are any women out there who are offended when men pee standing up because they cannot, know that yes you can!
